The WGDC Shows at the Three Counties

Two of the Guild's major shows are held at the Three Counties showground in Malvern, Worcestershire.' The Malvern Spring Gardening show is our first event of the year and also the first national RHS flower show.' It runs for four days in early May and is a real plantsman's paradise.' The Malvern Autumn show is held annually over a weekend at the end of September and is a celebration of food and gardens.

A lot of work goes into the planning and preparation of our facility in the Wye Hall, with each Guild officer having responsibility for their part in the scheme. Everything from co-ordinating the participants, designing the layout and organising the publicity.' On set-up other members pitch in to transport and erect the display stands, the lighting and the all-important 'tea and biscuit' space!

Meanwhile all members are busy creating new work for the event, pricing, packing and loading up their cars.' There is always a sense of camaraderie and optimism during set-up as we all come together with the same aim.' This generally evolves into group exhaustion by early evening on Sunday when everything has to be dismantled and loaded up before we head for home.
